In five months, Chaos Threads outgrew its corner, and we're reworking the shop's footprint all over again to keep up. Four years in, we're still growing without ever losing our warmth or our color.
When Kenneth retired, we did what we've always done: adapt, overcome, and improvise. That's how our in-house custom embroidery, Chaos Threads, got its start right here under the same roof.
The market had its own opinion. Our Mexican-inspired pottery and metal yard art found their audience fast, so resale quietly stepped aside, and much of that early inventory got donated right back to neighbors who could use it. What was left was the colorful, curated shop Cantaimer is today.
We started Cantaimer Shopping with a modest inventory, a good idea, and a lot of resale. It was humble, but it was ours.

While brainstorming something memorable, we landed on a phrase that packed four words into one: "you just can't tame her shopping." A wink, a wordplay, and it stuck. Now you know.
Cantaimer is a Mexican-inspired gift shop in the heart of Hico: pottery, metal yard art, and one-of-a-kind finds you won't stumble across just anywhere. Every piece is hand-selected, not pulled from a catalog. If it's on our shelves, it's because it caught our eye first.
We keep our prices fair because that's just how neighbors treat each other - real quality that you can actually take home, not a splurge you'll second-guess in the parking lot. And whether you're a traveler pulling off Highway 281 for the first time or a regular who already knows where the new arrivals land, you get the same thing at our door: a genuine welcome and no rush to leave.
From the beginning, we built Cantaimer to give back. We support local causes, school initiatives, and neighbors in need. It's woven into why we opened our doors in the first place.
That spirit of service runs through our embroidery work, too. A good share of our Chaos Threads customers come from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice community, a group we know personally, and are proud to serve. They know what they want, they know they can count on us, and we're grateful for every one of them.
